It was internal. Unfortunately the building was subject to a very common problem. Gypsum plaster and cementitious mortar. These materials used on new buildings in conjunction with other cementitious materials work as they\u2019re created. Unfortunately this is not the case on historic buildings. This building for example, originally built using Lime mortars was suffering greatly. As the Lime expels the moisture it has nowhere to go, therein sitting and slowly disintegrating the surrounding masonry.<\/p>\n [\/et_pb_text][et_pb_text admin_label=”Scope of Work” _builder_version=”4.27.3″ header_6_font_size=”21px” header_6_line_height=”1.4em” text_orientation=”left” header_6_line_height_phone=”line-height: 1.36em;” global_colors_info=”{}”]Scope of Work<\/strong><\/p>\n Williams Restoration undertook extensive internal restoration works at Wardour Street. This included removing gypsum plaster from the walls, cleaning the subsequent, exposed masonry, removing the cementitious mortar from the brickwork and replacing this with a sympathetic, locally sourced Lime mortar.
