The Grade II listed Victorian school building was constructed c1876 with a later extension in 1895. The building had been suffering from poor external drainage which was evident from the staining on the brickwork and the internal damp. This, alongside years of pollution and weathering had also seen a concerning deterioration of the masonry pointing. This is in turn had led to some of the brickwork moving, particularly in the arch ways above some doors and windows.<\/p>\n

Williams Restoration undertook the restoration of the external masonry of the Victorian, Bellenden School. The works included the removal of defective pointing and sections of brickwork that had moved over time and the reinstatement of these using locally sourced materials to achieve a mortar that matched the original. Williams Restoration also undertook the external stonework in the removal of defective window cills and the reinstatement of new ones. Williams Restoration also completed the repairing and replacing of the hand made moulded brick work. These bricks were moulded on site and completed by our own specialist Heritage Brickworker.<\/p>\n
