Italian footwear has a reputation for being the best and Rene Caovilla does his bit to uphold that reputation. He started out in 1950 and has since cobbled shoes for the couture houses of Valentino, Dior and Chanel. His ornate, bejewelled heels are displayed in this elaborate shop, decked out like an 18th century Venetian sitting room, complete with gold-leaf furniture and china lamps.<\/p>\n

Williams Restoration undertook the restoration and conservation of the frontal fa\u00e7ade decoration. This included removing all the existing, flaking paint using only hand tools being as sympathetic to the building as possible. Once complete we undertook the decoration using a bespoke matched Gold paints.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Situated on Buton St, Briony is only a few doors away\u00a0from the building where Princess Elizabeth Alexandra Mary was born in London, at the Mayfair home of her maternal grandparents, the Earl and Countess of Strathmore and Kinghorne. The former house in which she was born was at No. 17 Bruton Street and although the house no longer exists, the site is of great historical interest and a focus on this building is of great significance.\u00a0<\/p>

Scope of Work<\/h4>

Williams Restoration undertook the restoration and conservation of the frontal fa\u00e7ade. This included undertaking\u00a0in-situ, stucco repairs to the facade using traditional and historically matched mortars. This included repairs to the original hood moulds and window reveals. On this project we also undertook the repair and replacement of selected balustrade bottles, recreating these in our workshop using traditional methods. The Brioni building was finished\u00a0by painting the facade using the KEIM, breathable, mineral paint system.<\/span><\/p>

We worked with Williams on our RIBA award winning project The Sekforde, a Grade II Listed Regency period pub. The brief was to re-point the brickwork to the listed fa\u00e7ade, which had been badly affected from the removal of cement based render that had been applied sometime around the 1930s...<\/p>

The Williams Restoration team took on the whole job, from removing the cement render through to re-decoration. There's no avoiding the fact that this type of work is messy and sometimes noisy, but they tried hard to minimise nuisance to ourselves and our neighbours. They did a good job, and the facade now looks very smart and authentic.<\/p>
