| DESCRIPTION OF WORKS <\/td> | The Castle Club is a Grade II listed former school at Broomhouse Lane, Fulham, London. It was built in 1855 in the Gothic Revival style. \nWilliams Restoration Ltd were engaged to carry out the external masonry repairs works including all necessary design development work. \nThe building consisted of original bath stone decorative mouldings and brick work. The main objective was to conserve the natual fabric and ensure it was restored in areas and continue to be as it was for many years to come.\nWe needed to match the same stones to ensure they were compatible . The brickwork also had large amounts of cementitious repointing which was removed and replaced with lime mortars. \n\nDue to the height of the stone work and difficult angles on the gargoyles all work had to be pinned and secured assisting the property to prevent stones from falling, where parts where missing we reviewed original photos and documents to create similar or good matches. \n\nLime washes were also implemented to conserve the original stone in areas. Repointing to the brickwork was carefully removed where cementitious and replaced with lime mortars to ensure breathabillity and to help with obtaining weak points within the joints ensuring the bricks are the stability of the wall.<\/td><\/tr> |
